SEARCH OF PERSON OR PROPERTY POLICY
Given the school’s custodial and tutelary responsibility for children, and the school’s commitment to preserve a safe environm??ent for all students and staff, Dixie Montessori Academy school officials have the authority to conduct reasonable searches of students and student property.
ENROLLMENT POLICY
As outlined in its charter, Dixie Montessori Academy offers enrollment for students in grades K-7, and complies with all federal and state laws relative to admission policies. Dixie Montessori Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, national origin, religion, age, gender, handicap, or any other classification protected by law. Admission to Dixie Montessori Academy is open to all students regardless of socio-economic status, geographical location or learning level
DENIAL OF ENROLLMENT POLICY
DMA may deny enrollment of a student for reasons identified in R277-437-1I “Serious infraction of the law or school rules which means chronic misbehavior by a student which is likely, if it were to continue after the student was admitted, to endanger persons or property cause serious disruptions in the school, or to place unreasonable burdens on school staff.”
WITHDRAWAL POLICY
Students already enrolled and attending Dixie Montessori Academy are automatically re-enrolled and counted in the school’s student membership for the following school year, unless they are appropriately withdrawn.
RE-ENTRY POLICY
DMA is not obligated to re-enroll a student that has withdrawn for the same year the child was enrolled and withdrawn from.
IN-SCHOOL GRADE TRANSFER POLICY
The parent or legal guardian of children who are currently enrolled within the school who wish to change the grade for which they are enrolled will need to complete the Transfer Request Form. Transfers will be considered on an individual basis by the school administration and/or the Board of Directors. Upon approval, the child will be placed at the on the In-School Transfer wait-list for the appropriate grade. The child will be moved into the requested grade as space becomes available.
If circumstances change two or more times and it becomes necessary to place the same student into another grade, this same process will be followed.
CLASSROOM/TEACHER TRANSFER POLICY
The parent or legal guardian for children who are currently enrolled within the school who wish to change the classroom or teacher for which they are currently enrolled, will need to complete the Class/Teacher Change Form for the child to be considered. They will be considered on an individual basis by the school administration. Upon approval, the child will be placed on the Classroom/Teacher Wait-List for the appropriate desired Class/Teacher. The child will be moved into the requested classroom as space becomes available.
If circumstances change two or more times and it becomes necessary to place the same student into another class, this same process will be followed.
TRUANCY POLICY
Parents/guardians have the primary responsibility to ensure that their children attend school regularly and arrive on time. In an effort to help each student achieve academic and personal excellence, Dixie Montessori Academy is committed to working in harmony and cooperation with parents/guardians and to encourage and assist them with their responsibility to have their children in timely attendance at school. The school shall use earnest and persistent effort to deter excessive and unexcused student absence and tardiness. ?
